Misconduct is聽any聽conduct that undermines聽the academic environment or the principles of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility expected from all members of the聽Western Sydney聽University community.听

Misconduct falls into one of the following areas:

Types of Misconduct

General misconduct is behaviour that goes against the University鈥檚 expected standards, set out in the Student Code of Conduct. This includes putting someone鈥檚 health, safety, or wellbeing at risk, disrupting University鈥檚 activities or services, or stopping others from using University spaces.听

Academic misconduct is when you act in a way that is dishonest or intentionally deceptive during your study. This includes behaviour that may affect the fairness of exams or assessments or harms the University鈥檚 reputation.听聽 聽 聽聽

Research misconduct is not following the processes for undertaking research honestly and properly, as set out in the Responsible Conduct of Research Policy. This includes things like making up data or acting unethically in research.听

Sexual offences include any sexual behaviour that is inappropriate, unwanted, or without consent such as unwanted physical contact.听

Gender-based聽Violence聽is harmful聽behaviour directed at someone because of their gender,聽such as verbal abuse or harassment.听

The University聽responds to misconduct in a way that is safe, fair, respectful, and聽focussed on聽student wellbeing, Investigations undertaken聽fairly and consistently, with clear communication聽and decisions聽based on evidence.听

If the University believes a student not followed relevant processes, it聽will investigate聽under聽the聽Student Misconduct Policy聽and follow the聽steps聽in the聽.听
