What is Student Compliance?

Student Compliance is the process where your documents and evidence are assessed by NSW Health against required policies.

Once assessed, you will receive one of the following outcomes:

• 鈥楥ompliant鈥� 鈥� you are eligible for placement (some items will expire). Refer to InPlace for what will expire on what dates.
• 鈥楾emporary Compliant鈥� 鈥� you haven鈥檛 met all requirements; however you are you are eligible for placement for up to six months. Afterwards, your outcome will expire, and revert to 鈥榥ot compliant鈥�. You can only be 鈥榯emporary compliant鈥� once in your first 12 months with Western. Once it expires, you must complete all outstanding requirements to become 鈥榗ompliant鈥�.
• 鈥楴ot Compliant鈥� 鈥� you are not eligible for placement. You have not met the minimum requirements. There is further action required for you to become 鈥榗ompliant鈥�.

Important things to know

• You must complete compliance in your first year, even if placement is later
• It can take several months to meet all requirements, so start early
• You are responsible for ensuring your documents remain valid and up to date

What do I need to do?

Follow these key steps outlined below to complete your Student Compliance:

1. Check Your Requirements

Start by reading your program subjects in the Western Handbook and your Subject Outlines to confirm whether you need to be assessed.

2. Collect Your Vaccination and Immunity Evidence

You need to show evidence of protection against certain infectious diseases. The best place to start is by downloading your Immunisation History Statement (AIR) from Medicare. You can also use a Vaccination Record Card (every entry must be dated, stamped, and signed by a doctor or a vaccination provider) or blood test (serology) results. Do not go and get vaccinations yet 鈥� wait until NSW Health tells you what you need. Note: This BBV (blood鈥恇orne virus) requirement applies to Midwifery, Medicine, and Paramedicine students only.

3. Get Your Student ID Card and Police Check

You need two identity documents. The first, your Student ID Card (SID). Second, a current Australian National Police Check (NPC) in colour, issued within the last five years. Both must show your full legal name, including all middle names. International students need an international criminal history check (ICHC) from an AHPRA-approved ICHC supplier. 4. Complete the Three NSW Health Forms

All students must complete these three forms:

• (1) NSW Health Code of Conduct Agreement
• (2) NSW Health Undertaking/Declaration Form
• (3) .

Use your full legal name, your Western student email, and your Student ID number. Dates must be written as DD/MM/YYYY.

5. Combine Everything and Be Ready to Submit

• Scan all your documents 鈥� Student ID card, vaccination evidence, police check(s), and the three NSW Health forms 鈥� and combine them into one single colour PDF file under 5MB. Then wait for an email from the Student Compliance team telling you when and how to submit. Keep copies of everything, as Western does not retain your documents after assessment.

What documents do I need?

You may be required to provide:

• Immunisation evidence

  • Immunisation History Statement (Medicare)
  • Vaccination record card
  • Blood test (serology) results

• National Police Check (NPC)

  • Must be current and match your legal name

• NSW Health forms

  • Completed and signed

• Student ID card
