Chancellor's Unsung Heroes Award

The Unsung Heroes Award nominations are now open for 2026.

Purpose and Background

The 91³ÉÈË Unsung Heroes Award recognises an outstanding currently enrolled 91³ÉÈË student that has either established or worked within community enterprises. The recipient of the Unsung Heroes Award receives a $5,000 academic gift from the Chancellor, with the award being conferred at the annual ZEST Awards ceremony, coordinated by Western Sydney Community Forum.

Eligibility

  • The student must be currently enrolled at 91³ÉÈË.
  • Student must be working/volunteering within the community.
  • Nominations must be submitted by a 91³ÉÈË academic or professional staff member, current 91³ÉÈË student, or an individual external to the University.
  • Self-nominations and nominations submitted by immediate family members will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

  • The nominee’s contributions to their community/ies must have made a demonstrable impact on the social, cultural, economic, environmental, and/or technological development of the Western Sydney region.
  • The nominee must have demonstrated capacity for consistent and continual contributions to the community, above and beyond the requirements of their studies.
  • The nominee must have sustained academic progress.
