Biography
Dr Alexandra Hawkey is a Senior Research Fellow at the Translational Health Research Institute, 91成人, and an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow. Her work sits at the intersection of critical public health and cultural enquiry, exploring inequities in sexual and reproductive health experienced by marginalised groups, particularly migrant and refugee women.
Alex鈥檚 research focuses on fertility and contraception, sexuality, and the menstrual cycle. She uses participatory and co-designed research approaches to ensure that research projects, resources and health interventions are shaped by the communities they aim to support. She also brings new perspectives to women鈥檚 sexual and reproductive health through arts-based research methods, including body mapping and photovoice.
Alex is a board member of the International Society for Menstrual Cycle Research, President Elect of the Australasian Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Associate Editor of Women鈥檚 Reproductive Health, and co-lead of the Menstrual Cycle Research Network at 91成人.
