Land, Pest and Fire Management
Effective pasture and land management practices play an important role in controlling weeds, reducing pest animal impacts, and mitigating bushfire risk across the farm's 566 hectares. Maintaining productive pastures and high levels of ground cover helps suppress weed establishment, while rotational grazing and regular pasture monitoring support healthy, resilient landscapes. The farm's management activities are undertaken in accordance with the University's weed and pest management plans and in consultation with industry experts such as Greater Sydney Local Land Services. Bushfire risk is further reduced through strategic grazing, pasture management, and the maintenance of slashed buffer zones and fire breaks, helping to protect farm assets, neighbouring properties, and the wider Hawkesbury campus.
